Back From The Depths

Sometimes you have to put the fun on the back burner. At least I do. It’s been a busy spring/summer for my family, and responsibilities have kept me from doing what I love to do the most; fish.

But It appears that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I’m hoping that fall will bring me opportunities to fish and make those drives to the end of the Dike. My work schedule should subside and afford me more time to hit the shoreline in search for some fish. I’m counting the days.

Thanks for stopping by during my absence. Hopefully there will be reports to write about soon. I made a quick visit to Boyd’s One Stop to drop off some items and took a peak at the water. The tide was out a bit and the water was a little off color. But I heard that some nice speckled trout have been caught at night under the lights. That’s great to hear.

Great info about the TCD. The last time I was there was in the early 70′s. Is it better to fish with a float with live shrimp, a leader with a slip weight on the bottom with live bait or on the bottom with a double hook leader and weighted?

From your google map photos, I see there is a beach at the end of the dike. Is that a good place to fish for flounder since I’m thinking it’s a flat sandy bottom?

Thanks again for all the good info you provide on this site.

  2. Hey Krash. We’ll get ‘em this fall. Thanks.

I was starting to worry about you TCD. Good to hear from you again.
I know how you feel. Between work and the sargassum this year I’ve only made two trips myself. Hopefully things will slow down and I’ll be back on the beach soon.
    Take care my friend.
    See ya on the beach…….Krash

  4. Hi Rico. I missed your email completely. If I had read it, I surely would have replied. I’ll check again and see if it slipped by me. Either way, I’ll shoot you one out in the next few days. Thanks for checking in my friend.

Welcome Back Ol’ Sea Bear. ;)
Nice to see a new post on your blog, David.
I sent you an email a few weeks back that you never answered and I was really wondering and worrying what’s going on. No response on my email? That’s not David at all.
I’m very glad to see your doing fine and everything seems to get back to normal in your life.
Me and my step son went fishing the Dike a few weeks ago. We even brought the generator and lights so we could fish under the lights but couldn’t catch anything worth to keep or even talk about. But, we had a great time being outdoors, smelling the salty air, spending time together and that is what counted the most.
Hope you’ll really will get a chance to wet a line soon again and you will be more successful than we’ve been that night. I know you are missing the fishing more than anything else but you are like me, sometimes you just have to set the priorities to something else and family or job comes first.
Take Care my friend and if you find time, shoot me an email. I got a few news to tell you too.
