Flounder Fishing On The Texas City Dike

I’ve made a few more fishing trips to Galveston Bay with fair results. We had a cool front pass through and fishing has picked up since. Finger mullet and plastic shrimp tails worked for me. I had a good friend with me one day and we both managed our daily limit of two flounder.

Here are some pictures from those outings.

I got a late start this morning but fished for about an hour from 11-12pm. I caught another good sized flounder right at 22 inches. Flounder are fun to catch. They can be a little tricky when they take the bait. Sometimes they grab and run, sometimes they bump the bait and sit with it on the bottom.

  1. Thanks Jesse for the kind words. Glad you made it to the Dike and hope to see you there sometime. November-December can be good fishing on Galveston Bay including the dike. The weather is always a factor, but mostly for the fisherman. I’ve caught fish in the worst of weather, and have been skunked under perfect conditions.

    Good luck Jesse.

TexasCityDave good to see you back been missing the posting. Nice Flounder, and probably good table that night. You were inspirational for my fish buddy and myself to finally make first fish trip to the Dike the last weekend of September. Though was a light catch (2 trout) wind and rain didnt help, but was learning experience, and making plans to return. Thanks, and keep up the photos and forecast.
    Jesse
