My goal last week was to catch enough flounder to have a family meal on Sunday. The Good Lord provided and we had a great supper. We made stuffed flounder, fried flounder, fried crab cakes, and fried shrimp.
A cold front is fast approaching and should make it to the coast by daylight. It should help drop the temperature in Galveston Bay and improve the annual founder run. Hopefully I’ll be able to fish a little and add some flounder to the freezer.

Craig, my son-in-law surveying the situation. Flounder stuffed with shrimp and crab about to go in the oven.

Thanks Dave for your response. I’m looking forward to the trip, getting gear together.
Jesse,
Most folks fish for flounder on the right hand side of the Dike as you are going toward the end. That is the Texas City Ship Channel side. Where you mentioned, across from the boat ramp at the end, is a hot spot. Near the big channel marker has been a favorite spot for many years. Hope this helps.
Morning Dave, Those flounder look fantastic. Thanks for sharing pics. On a previous post you mention fishing along the rock line, is that where side w/ big boulders or side where the boat ramps are. Inquiring because coming that way Thanksgiving weekend and I’m hoping to make it to the Dike. Fished across from the last boat launch when there in Sept. Any help be appreciated. Keep up good work.
Hi Bob. Yep, I’m still alive and kicking. The wife has a little recipe for the stuffing and cream sauce that goes on top of those flatfish. Also, I found a way cool Youtube video of how to remove the backbone but leave the fish intact. Give me a little bit and I’ll post up the info. Great to hear from you!
TexasCityDAVE! Your back!
I had not been on for a while then BAM posts and pics – some very good pics I might add. Well done.
I have been doing plenty of fishing, just not a lot of catching but enough to keep me coming back. You on the other hand, seem to be doing quite well.
Maybe on one post you can show us how to fillet and cook those flatties. Inquiring minds want to know.
