I didn’t fish the past few days. It was time to enjoy Thanksgiving with family and friends. I still couldn’t help but wonder what was going on at the Texas City Dike. The weather was good and wind was down, even calm at times. I hope the folks who fished did well.
Speaking of doing well, my brother Jesse fished a few times just before Thanksgiving and really put on a show. He caught a 28 inch 7 pound speckled trout to go along with a host of other fish. He fished in Sabine Lake on the north side. Here are some shots from the outings in his boat.
Rain is in the forecast for Monday. Another cool front is due in shortly thereafter. Hopefully that will continue the downward trend of water temperatures and spark the flounder run.

Thanks Ben for the report. Sounds like you had a good time. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving and I wish you a very Merry Christmas.
The fishing weather was great at the Dike this past Thanksgiving holiday. Thursday morning was foggy, but cleared up nicely. Friday was another great day until the rain came around 3:30pm. Saturday was windy and cold in the morning, but cleared up nicely 1 hour before high tide. There were plenty of folks out there, many were catching like crazy if you had live mullet. It was hard to find any if you didn’t catch any the night before or in the wee hours of the morning. Otherwise, it was some good fishing. I definitely enjoyed it and enjoy your website, Dave.
