I would like to thank everyone who has sent me emails and commented on my little fishing blog. It’s great to meet so many fine fishermen/fisherwomen and I appreciate your input. People from all over the country have stopped by and it seems we all share a lot of the same interests.
It’s been such a strange year as far as weather is concerned. My heart goes out to our neighbors to the North that have had to deal with the tornadoes. The drought conditions that we are experiencing in the South is nothing compared to the dangerous weather that has been occurring in the Midwest. Hopefully things will get back to some sense of normalcy soon.
I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable long weekend and let me know if you go fishing.
Hi,
I have some questions about fishing at the Texas City Dike.
I have usually go to Galveston’s seawolf park but the fee for fishing gone up and I really don’t want to pay that much for 2 people.
Here are some questions I have,
What is the fee for fishing at the TCD? (if there is any)
Where can I park?
What are the rules? pets, curfew, rod sizes, etc.
Will my line get stuck without a floater ?
Thanks!
Peter.
You’re very welcome. Try WARSTEINER or even better, WARSTEINER DUNKEL! It’s a dark (dunkel) beer and pretty strong. Also I can recommend a very good beer from Czech, PILSNER URQUELL.
A brew tastes even better when the fish don’t bite.
See Ya Soon.
Thanks Rico. I’ll take you up on that offer. I love a good German beer and I haven’t found one yet that I don’t like. Spaten is great. See you soon.
Hello Reggie and thanks for posting. Well, the fish will always fool you. Just I think I have them figured out, they throw me for a curve. Yes, some common sense may help, like fishing deeper when the water temperature is up. Early morning and during the night, fish will come in close to the shore to feed. And in regard to the wind, I try to find a place that is sheltered from strong winds. That is mainly for my comfort, but it also may give you better water conditions to fish. But when all else fails, just fish! That’s what it’s all about to me. I just try to find the time to fish and go. Good luck and hope to see you out on the Texas City Dike someday.
Hi, Dave.
1st post – from me, the consummate novice trying to learn something.
I think I have a basic understanding about the tides, relative to better times of the day/night to fish (high tide brings the fish into the bay), but what about the wind. Is there a maximum wind (MPH) whereby it is disadvantageous to try to fish- e.g., if the wind is >20 MPH, then it’s no good for fishing? Same thing about the ambient/water temperature – e.g., at > 95 degrees ambient, do most of the fish go deeper to escape the hot surface temps?
Thanks for your comments !
Reggie
David, we are also wishing you and your family also a very enjoyable and relaxing Memorial Day weekend.
With the gusty winds I doubt we will make a trip to go fishing.
I got few bottles of good German Beer, PJ is going to prepare some delicious foods and I Guess we will take it just easy and relax.
Yesterday’s temperatures of reaching almost the 100 kept us inside the house for most of the day. After sun set to sit outdoors and have a cold beer.
Come up here and enjoy a cold beer with us. You are always welcome!
